So, National Novel Writing Month starts in 28 minutes (at the time of writing this).
I have not participated in previous years.
You have to write 50,000 words.
Or, 1,677 words per day ish.
it will be taking up most of my time.
hopefully my grades and this competition and my sanity will not suffer.
and yes i did just make a pot of coffee at 11 at night.
anyone else NaNo-ing?

Just something for students? Do you send in your stuff and get prizes or book deals or something?

it's an international opportunity for everyone to finally write that novel they've been thinking about. it's a way to just barf words onto the page without worrying about revision and shit.
lots of college kids participate, including almost every English major i know.
i roped Lucy into it.
there is no prize, except bragging rights. Several NaNos have developed into real, published books.

yeah me too. that's why this dealio is so good for me. it's such an effort to actually FINISH anything. that's why i'm a poet. It's the cop-out of creative writing formats. Ahahaha.

I haven't written anything creative since English class in undergrad like 6 years ago lol I couldn't write a single page now.... maybe a comic strip lol Im so jealous

I can't even stand the little red/green lines that come up on microsoft word... I always end up getting so distracted by them that I go back to fix it, rather then let spellcheck catch it at the end.

Thats what i was doing, it was just getting frustrating haha

i know, it's so hard! i'm at 667 words, and i haven't read any of them yet.
i've always had the writing bone, even before real school, but class has been a great way to force me to do things i don't want to do. Like prose fiction. Haha.
