its shorthand lol, you have to know it to be a journalist atm i can do like if i try my hardest 80 words a minute but just for one minute then i get lost but i can do a whole interview at 50 words a minute ha

well i was doing it all last uni year but i got stuck on like everything and didnt really try but ive been trying really hard this year so like 2 and 1/2 months

its really hard though at the start but once you break through its a breeeze

Wow, Chantal. I'm a journalism major in the States and they've never taught us shorthand... it's not even mentioned. I somehow feel inferior now...

really? in England you cant be a proper reporter if you cant pass 100 words per minute in shorthand, you also need to know journalism law and government and politics... sooo annoying!

what lessons do you do then?

ask about it next time you have a class lol, i suppose you can use a dictaphone when your doing an interview or a press confrence but what if it breaks on you

Yeah, I'm in journalism law right now. I have a final in it tomorrow. It will kill me.

We just write down what people say in normal English. We make our own abbreviations (which is confusing when you forget what your abbreviations mean). We're just expected to write really fast.
